Half and Half Predator Fly – Large Saltwater Baitfish Streamer

A large-profile saltwater baitfish fly designed for targeting aggressive predators. Tied on a heavy-duty #3/0 saltwater hook, this pattern delivers plenty of movement and a substantial presence in the water.

Description

These Half and Half Predator Flies are big saltwater baitfish patterns built for anglers targeting larger gamefish. They feature an attractive baitfish profile with plenty of movement in the water, making them an excellent choice when predators are feeding on larger forage.

Tied on heavy-duty #3/0 saltwater hooks, each fly also includes a monofilament weed guard to help when fishing around grass, structure, and other cover.

Why Fish the Half and Half Predator Fly?

When larger predators are feeding on baitfish, a bigger fly can be an effective way to match the available forage. The Half and Half offers a substantial silhouette and movement that makes it a valuable addition to a saltwater predator fly box.

How to Fish It

Work this fly with short, sharp strips, longer pulls, or a steady retrieve. Mix in pauses to change the fly's movement and experiment until you find what triggers a strike. Fish it around bait schools, grass edges, channels, and other areas where larger predators may be hunting.

Capt. Ken’s Guide Tips

• Think big when matching bait: This larger profile is a good option when predators are chasing bigger baitfish or ignoring smaller offerings.

• Vary your retrieve: Start with short, sharp strips. If fish follow without striking, experiment with longer pulls and pauses.

• Cover productive water: Work grass lines, channel edges, points, and areas where baitfish are concentrated.

• Check your weed guard: The mono weed guard helps around cover, but make sure it is positioned properly and does not interfere with hook penetration.
